No. After your account is created, RISE is accessible instantly through any modern browser with no app store download or heavy installation required. It delivers the speed and fluidity expected from a native app, optimized for both desktop and mobile web.

Yes. RISE is committed to a vision of being built by workers, for workers, freely shared among workers for the advancement of workers. Powerful organizing tools shouldn't be locked behind prohibitive paywalls. This access levels the playing field for grassroots and member-driven campaigns.

To access mapping/turf building and email features, members DO have to enter some information. For email features, it’s simple! All you have to do is enter a Send/Receive email address on the Admin page and authorize access, and RISE will send formatted emails that track analytics from your email address. Email is never sent on your behalf without your knowledge; the only time email is sent is when you click send. To learn more about email features, select “ABOUT: Set Up Send/Receive Email Address” on the Admin page, or click the info icon at the top of the Communications & Outreach page.

To access mapping/turf-building features, you have to enter an API key. This is free for you to obtain, but they do generally require a connected payment method. RISE will help you set this up and adjust settings so that your usage never exceeds a free level; your monthly access will simply throttle until your next billing cycle. The great news is that before you hit that level, you would have to generate more maps than you would likely ever be able to create - with Google’s $200 recurring monthly credit, you can generate around 28,500 maps per month. You would have to generate 40 maps per hour, 24 hours per day, seven days per week to exceed that.

By designing the software in this "bring your own key" way, RISE remains free for users AND sustainable to the system developer.

Different users can be given different levels of access, so leaders, organizers, activists, and volunteers only see the tools and information appropriate to their role. That helps teams coordinate widely without exposing every record, dataset, or administrative function to every user.

Once your campaign is created, access to campaign data is governed by role-based permissions and protected workflows.
